Match 3 - Dartford 29.06.08
Tonbridge secured their position at the top of the Medway Division of the National Junior league with a convincing win on Sunday last. Medway and Maidstone gained a creditable second place, some 62 points behind Tonbridge.
Michael Baker did his part in winning the 200m (22.8) and the 400M (50.3) and was anchor man in the successful 4 x 100 relay team, along with James Alcock, Sam Bewick and Andre Wright.
Other success in the ‘A’ string came to Jack Tyler in the 3000m (8.53.4), Chris Haines in the 800m (1.58.0) and more importantly it was good to see Stuart Hitchcock return to the horizontal jumps with victory in the long jump. Josh Elderfield contributed to the points with victory in the ‘B’ 3000 (9.48.0) and James Alcock supported Hitchcock in the long jump with victory in the ‘B’ string (6.20). Alex Wharfe continued his support role, while returning from injury, with success in the ‘B’ javelin (34.26) and second place in the ‘B’ discus (26.05)
Coming towards the final match Tonbridge have built up a resounding cumulative lead of 318 points, with Medway and Maidstone 210 points in front of third placed Cambridge Harriers.
