Kent Indoor Championships
Lee Valley - 26/27 January 2008

Seven gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals were won by M&M athletes at the 2008 Kent Indoor Championships at Lee Valley. This new facility was a much better venue than has been available in previous years and the performances matched the surroundings!

Tim Alexander won the senior men's 800m by some seven seconds and Michael baker was equally as comfortable in winning the under 20’s 400 metres. Also in the under 20’s Darren March won the long jump, with Stuart Hitchcock gaining the silver. Darren also won the silver in the triple jump.

The under 17’s men was the most successful section with two golds and four silvers. Alex Wharfe won the 60m hurdles and picked up a silver in the Pole Vault. James Alcock won the long jump and was second in the 200m, whilst other silvers went to David Ryan (1500m) and Christopher White (high jump).

12 year old Thomas Howlett stepped up to under 15’s and didn’t disappoint. He was first in the high jump and 3rd in the long jump.

In the senior women Gemma Dowsett won the silver in the Pole Vault, with under 20 women's bronze medals going to Charlotte Mackie (60m and high jump) and Yasmyn Joseph (400m).  In the Under 17's the sole M&M Athlete, Jodie Shaw, picked up two medals, in the Shot and 60mH.

Nicola Keegan and Annie Waghorn shared the four medals in the under 15’s girls. Anne won the high jump and was third in the 60m hurdles. Nicola competed against a very strong field and won silver in both the 60m and the 200m.
