Welcome to the Website of Medway and Maidstone Athletic Club

Medway and Maidstone Athletic Club is Kent's premier athletics club. The club provides training and competition for athletes of all standards. Road running, track and field and cross country teams compete in local, regional and national events.

If you are interested in joining - all details are given on the "How to join the club" tab on the left hand side of the site - there is no need to contact us first.

WINTER TRAINING Oct.11 - Feb 12

All club members are welcome to attend the following sessions

MEDWAY PARK - As well as hiring the track we have also hired part of one of the sportshalls

Tuesdays 6:30 - 7:30 Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00

SVS - Training has moved to the gym at Valley Park School Mondays & Thursdays 6 - 8

There is an additional fee of £1 per session per athlete to cover the cost.

The Club has 4 Guaranteed places in the London Marathon. If your entry been unsuccessful then please foward your details to Club Sec. lneeves@tiscali.co.uk by 30th November who will add your name to the list. If there are more applicants than places then a draw will be held in early December. Please note you must be a Full Member and preference will be given to those who compete regularly for the Club in league fixtures. Entries are guaranteed but are not free, you must still send the fee which must be received at the Marathon office by 13th January.

Please note these are provisional dates and have yet to be confirmed. Venues to be arranged. There may be a delay in producing a confirmed fixture list for next year as many tracks will be unavailable due to training by Olympic Teams.

Membership 2012

Membership is due for renewal on 1st January 2012. Please download your forms and complete then forward with fee to the Membership Secretary.

If you are Member of another Club and use either of the Medway and Maidstone facilities to train on Club nights you are required to become a TRAINING ONLY MEMBER - details are membership forms

Help Needed with Website maintenance

We need a volunteer (or two) to help with the up keep of information that we put on the website - results and general news - please give it some thought and contact us if you are interested.

Mark Cryer gets Bronze in

England Indoor Combined Events Championships (Under 20)

The Championships were held in Sheffield on 7th and 8th January 2012

Mark achieved four personal bests in the Heptathlon:

Long jump - 6.62m

Shot- 11.18m

Pole Vault- 2.94m

1000m- 2:48.40

Total score of 4461 points.

News from 'Down Under'

Four PB's in the New South Wales Combined Events Open shows that training is going well for Martin Brockman. Martin went out to Australia to do winter training at the end of November. He took part in his first competition on the 7th and 8th January 2012.

His personal bests were in:

100m: 11.18sec

400m: 49.47 sec

Shot: 14.29m

Javelin: 57.69

His total points of 7493 won the competition.

Martin continues his training until the end of February when he will take part in another competition where he will have another attempt at gaining the qualifying standard for the Decathlon the 2012 Olymics

before returning home.
