Track Use....
With the track almost ready for use, the following instructions give members details of how the facility will be used.
With the track due to be accredited for competition shortly, all that will remain is for the final fencing and health and safety checks to be complete before the track opens for use on 1 March 2010. The photos below were taken on a visit to the track by Chairman Paul Alcock and Senior Men's Winter Team Manager Adrian Lowther.

Good progress is being made on the new track, as the photos below show. The Track should be complete on schedule at the end of July. The club is having positive discussions with Medway Council about the terms of the club use and there already plans in place to hold an opening event later in the summer.

Work began on the new track at the Black Lion Leisure Centre, as part of Medway Park, at the start of November, with works on earth moving well underway.
Many of the planning conditions have been resolved and the floodlighting application, which was never part of the original planning application, is going through at present.
The planned completion target date remains at end July 2009.
Planning permission has been granted for the track at the Black Lion and the club is now advising on ensuring the plans (which can be viewed below) meet the necessary standards and are implemented smoothly. There will need to be a further plannign application for floodlights at the track. This will be made in due course and should not provide any significant problems (fingers crossed).
Updated 30th July
The Black Lion track is on the horizon and this is due to be opened in late Summer 2009. As a club we are starting to engage with Medway Council, who are in the driving seat for this work. The club is offering advice and support to its development rather than taking responsibility for its delivery and running. The new track at Black Lion will totally replace Deangate in 2009 and the club will operate from two bases from the minute the Sutton Valence track is open, with time and effort being put into both facilities.
