M&M Bulletin
27th
January 2009 – Issue 12
Club Structure - Charity Status Obtained
Following
the adoption of a new club Constitution at the EGM in October, the club moved
forward and made application to become a charity. At the start of December 2008 the club received
notification that it had been successful in its application.
Being
a charity assists with fund raising in future and save members money by
increasing the income of the club via increased bank interest and Gift Aid in
2009. We need to liaise with HMRC before we can implement the tax savings on a
portion of the membership subs now planned in 2010 when both new tracks are
planned to be open.
Details
of the club’s listing as a charity can be found online at: http://mandmac.org/aboutus.aspx
The
new club constitution, that enabled the application to be made, can be viewed
online at: http://mandmac.org/Documents/New_charity_Constitution_2008_10_07_Fina.pdf

Clubmark
Accreditation
Clubmark is a cross-sport quality
accreditation for clubs with junior sections and the club has recently been
awarded Clubmark Status. It shows that we are working in
the interests of young people and trying to develop the very best young
athletes. It demonstrates we have strong
structures in place and this will ultimately lead to more champions of the future
coming from our local area. Find out
more about Clubmark on the club website:
Well done
to all those, especially Jenny Newton who managed the application, who helped
contribute to the club’s accreditation!!!!!

Linked
to the success of the Kent XC Championships, we have an agreement with the
County Association that for the championships held at Detling, the Club will
provide the Course Marshalls in exchange for the Club being allowed to do the
catering. Thanks to all those who stood outside in the ice and sub-zero
temperatures, we took over £800 on the day.
The following letter arrived from the County Secretary:
"Would you
please extend the thanks of the KCAA Committee and participating athletes, for
the help given by your Club Members at the above event. It was much appreciated
and without doubt greatly contributed to the success of the meeting."
